The proposed Westshore Marina District in South Tampa is proposing to develop “contemporary waterfront infused with nostalgic distinction”, according to a recent promotional video placed online (and which you can watch above).
The plan calls for 1,750 residential units, 156,250 square feet of retail and 83,750 square feet of office space.
Located just off the Westshore and Gandy intersection, the Westshore Marina District is part of a bold vision for South Tampa, which also includes redevelopment of the old Georgetown apartment complex, recently proposed by Debartolo Development.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, that development includes plans for 1,235 new residential homes on the 9 acre site less than a mile north of the Marina District plans.
Speaking of the plans for the Georgetown property, Edward Kobel, president and COO of Debartolo, told TBO.com, “there is so much demand to live and work in South Tampa. That’s a big driver.”

With Aquatica on Bayshore currently under construction, as well as several new town home development in the works, it appears there will soon be several new options for living and working in South Tampa.
